Notes for: William Wycliffe

His name and his daughter's name come from "A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Commoners of Great Britain and Ireland. Enjoying Territorial Possessions or High Official Rank; But Invested with Heritable Honours," v. 1, by John Burke, Esq. London: 1833 (p. 583). There is more on the Tyrwhitt family in this book.

It is said the daughter was a daughter of this William Wycliffe, Esq. of Wycliffe and a sister or cousin of John Wycliffe the Reformer. I think that is only a guess, though.

Subject: Parentage of Agnes (Ann) Wycliffe

Hello David: I am writing to ask if you may have an idea as to the parentage of a certain Agnes (Ann) Wycliffe. She married a Robert Tyrwhitt. This Robert was about 21 years of age in 1322. She is said to be a daughter of a William Wycliffe of Wycliffe in Yorkshire.
