Mont "Flea" Everett Bodine IV, 58, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was born in Alton the son of Penny Jo (Losch) Bodine of Jerseyville and the late Mont Everett Bodine III. Flea worked at Morris University Center's bookstore at SIUE for many years. On February 19, 2005 in Wood River, IL he married the love of his life, Lisa Highfill and she survives. Along with his wife and his mother, he is survived by a sister, Traci Bodine Walker of Edwardsville, IL and nephews, Eli and Malachi Walker of Noblesville, IN. In laws, Gary and Jean Highfill of Alton, and his dog, Fluffy. He was preceded in death by all four of his grandparents and beloved pets Abby, Gidget and Jetty. In Flea's younger years, he attended SIUE where he met his tribe of friends who accepted, understood and loved him. He joined the influential pop punk band, Judge Nothing, playing bass and cowriting many of their songs. While in the band, he toured the United States creating many adventures along the way. Flea met his wife through his wonderful friends Andy and Jennifer Dykeman during this time. The band released two CD's on Thick Records and continued to tour regularly until 1997. Flea shared the stage with bands such as Green Day, Fugazi, All, Shiner, Jesus Lizard, Joan Jett, Season to Risk, Bent and many others. After the band broke up, Flea took up running, participating in many events including trail runs with his wife, his father-in-law, his dear cousin Tiffany and many others. He trained regularly with his dogs Gidget and Abby. Flea continued to play bass throughout the rest of his life with friends and neighbors. He enjoyed the comradery of playing rock and roll with nice people. He loved to volunteer with various local organizations, especially the Sierra Club-Piasa Pallisades and Pere Marquette Park Cabin Restoration Project, cultivating even more friendships. Flea was loved by so many people and will be missed by everyone. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend John Pawloski will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Sierra Club-Piasa Palisades or a donation for a Memorial Park bench in memory of Flea. Gent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
