In June 1900, Edward and Martha Hatton lived in Fugit Township, Decatur County, Indiana where Edward worked as a "shoeman." The couple reported having been married 32 years during which time Martha had borne 8 children, but only 3 were surviving.

From Indiana Death Certificate of William Edward Hatton, widower of Martha A. Bodine, born 6 Oct 1847 in Bartholomew Co., Indiana, son of John & Eliza (Moore) Hatton, died 26 May 1930 in Clarksburg, Decatur County and was buried there. Informant was Mrs. Baft Young of Greensburg.
